First tattoo. :)

I can’t explain to you how stupid I think this is. I don’t really care that it’s a lame tattoo…I’m just saying as anything…it’s usually a bumper sticker. I just think it’s stupid all the time.

Not trying to be insensitive, but why?

I just think the idea of this “Coexist” isn’t so much one of loving everyone regardless of their religion, but it’s sort of an “accept everyone’s religion as just as right as your own.”
I love everyone, but I don’t think “everyone is right.” I’m not a relative truth kind of person. I can love a person regardless of whether they are right or wrong, but I think it’s kind of dumb to pretend all of these views are equally correct, especially since some of them are very blatantly exclusive in their doctrines —what I mean to say is that the Christian doctrine, for example (as well as some other religions’ doctrines) states that it is the ONLY way. So it’s just strange to me that there are people who believe in a religion that claims itself as exclusive yet choose to believe in a lack of exclusivity. …If that makes any sense at all.
and I just don’t get people who mix parts of different religions into their own religion, because a lot of the religions they’re combining specifically forbid believing other doctrines they’re combined with.
I have NO idea if that made sense. Too much chemistry to study for. AHH i’m sorry. i hope it was clear. if not i’ll figure it out later. I just don’t get it, that’s the bottom line. ;lakjdfl;kjds
Chemistry time.

I don’t know if this is what you’re trying to say, but this tattoo isn’t saying ‘I accept all religions as my own’, it’s saying ‘I believe all religions should be able to coexist in one world.’
I don’t see what the big issue about that is. People have different beliefs, you should accept that and allow people to have their own opinion and follow their own ideals.
If that’s not what you meant, then sorry, but I think saying someone’s tattoo is stupid seems kind of insensitive and close-minded. It’s their own body.

Thank you.
Coexist - to exist separately or independently but peaceably.
I am not a religious person whatsoever so I guess that’s why I can sit here and not judge someone based on their religion. I don’t think there’s a “right” religion and I think saying so makes you incredibly narrow minded. Your religion is your beliefs and I truly truly believe that we can live in a world where everyone has a different view and yet there’s still peace. I don’t have to agree with someone but I’m surely not going to tell them to shut up or stop believing in what they believe in.
And as for getting a tattoo of a bumper sticker.. you’re right. I saw it on a bumper sticker or a t-shirt (I can’t remember which), but it doesn’t make the statement any less powerful in my mind.
